Unarmed and Disarming Peace: Insights from Rome on Gospel Nonviolence

The Catholic Institute for Nonviolence, a project of Pax Christi International, hosted an inaugural conference in Rome this September on the theme of Pope Leo’s call for “unarmed and disarming peace.”

Following the conference, the Pax Christi International Fund for Peace and Pax Christi USA held a virtual conversation about Gospel nonviolence today. The event featured remarks from attendees of the Institute’s conference, who offered a window into the insights and renewed commitments that emerged at the global convening. The event also highlighted the many, diverse ways people participated in the Catholic Nonviolence Days of Action for 2026.
