The Joe Nangle OFM Fund for a Nonviolent Future honors Father Joseph Nangle, OFM, a beloved Franciscan deeply committed to the transformative power of nonviolence and a founding board member of the Pax Christi International Fund for Peace. Through Father Joe’s pastoral ministry and public witness, he embraced a different path forward for the world, envisioning a future marked by nonviolence and social justice. In his final days, Father Joe endorsed this legacy fund as a way to keep advancing this work to which he devoted his life and in which he believed so deeply.

The Fund supports particular needs of Pax Christi International, designated on an annual basis, thereby enabling the global Catholic peace movement to further Father Joe’s work for integral peace, nonviolence, inclusive communities, and care for creation.

On Easter Monday, the Pax Christi International Fund for Peace hosted, “With Joy in Your Presence: A Celebration of Father Joe Nangle, OFM’s Life and Enduring Legacy.” This virtual celebration included moments of prayer, reflections about Joe from close friends, greetings from communities impacted by Joe, and readings from his writings.
