The Stories and Successes of Nonviolence

Stories of nonviolent actions in different corners of the world almost every day are found in publications like Waging Nonviolence and Nonviolence News, which each week brings 30-50 stories of “nonviolence in action” to readers, illuminating the scale and scope of how nonviolence is actively shaping our world.

Be Trained in Nonviolence

Sign up for one of the many in-person or virtual trainings in nonviolence that are now available. Topics can include: nonviolent communication, nonviolent self-defense, active bystander intervention & de-escalation, restorative justice, online/digital nonviolence, trauma awareness and healing, nonviolent civilian-based defense, and unarmed civilian protection.

Studying Nonviolence

  • If you have not done so already, read Why Civil Resistance Works by Erica Chenoweth and Maria Stephan, as well as Erica’s more recent book, Civil Resistance: What Everyone Needs to Know.

  • Take time to watch “A Force More Powerful,” especially the story about Denmark’s resistance to the German occupation in WWII

  • Listen to the Beatitudes Center podcasts and Nonviolence Radio
